Interview Process
To join our engineering team you will be assessed on your core coding, algorithm design and analytical thinking. For Operations, Sales and Business Development roles, you will be assessed by your problem solving and articulation skills, as well as analytical thinking. We're interested in how you answer questions, and not whether the answer is right or wrong. Displaying how you arrive at answers is important. Depending on the role, you may be required to complete several interviews and meet with several members of the team.

Remember: you need to demonstrate what interests you about Affectv and the reasons you think you can succeed. Understand who our competitors are. If you've listed certain skills and experiences, prepare to be tested in depth about them.

Sales Manager
We are looking for a self-starting, self-motivated and enthusiastic digital sales professional with an understanding of the digital ecosystem to join our ambitious team.

This is a pure digital sales role. The Sales Manager will be responsible for a large agency patch, clients direct and will have to manage the entire pitch, close, campaign management, reporting and repeating cycle.

Social Targeting technology is new to the digital ad market. This role requires a good understanding of the digital ecosystem in order to educate digital planning and buying teams, including technologies such as RTB, ad exchanges, social networks and audience targeting.

The candidate will be from a network/big brand background with experience pitching, handling and negotiating Direct Response and Brand campaigns. They will have a solid contact base and have a proven track record at building and developing relationships with senior clients with ad agencies and clients direct.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full sales cycle - introduction pitches, organising meetings, creation of presentations, meetings, closing business, campaign management, repeat business.
  • Identification of new clients and new business opportunities.
  • Management of agency patch - account executive to trading director.
  • Client entertainment.
  • 20 to 30 meetings a month.
  • Growth of revenue.
  • Growth of agency patch.
Requirements
  • 2+ years digital sales experience.
  • Ad network or big brand background.
  • Strong presentation skills (comfortable presenting to 1 or 20 people).
  • Competent in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Agency contact base.

For Operations roles you will be assessed by your problem solving and articulation skills, as well as analytical thinking.

Operations Intern
The Operations Intern's main tasks are to work closely with the rest of the Operations and Sales teams to set up and deliver campaigns and provide excellent client service across all assigned accounts. Their attention to detail will allow them to excel at their job, help evolve practices around the use of data on the ad operations team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Will be accountable for the set up and smooth delivery of all activity throughout a campaign's lifecycle.
  • Take direct responsibility for the quality and smooth operation of our trafficking and campaign management, ensuring consistent high standards and rigorous QA processes. This includes:
    • Help manage day-to-day campaign management and optimisation.
    • Basic reporting and troubleshooting.
    • Assist in the launch of new campaigns and monitor performance.
    • Regular communication with clients and agencies.
  • Identify opportunities for the innovation and improvement through the learning and use of new technologies and processes.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies in the industry.
Requirements:
  • Excellent Excel, skills familiarity with the basics of data manipulation and digital advertising reporting.
  • Educated to degree level preferably in an analytical discipline (Science/Maths/Engineering).
  • Ideally you will have a strong affinity towards technical skills like HTML, Javascript and Flash. SQL and programming experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, a strong work ethic and a good team player.

Operations Junior Manager/Operations Executive
The Operations Executive's main tasks are to work closely with the rest of the Operations and Sales teams to set up and deliver campaigns and provide excellent client service across all assigned accounts. The candidate will be seasoned in ad trafficking and campaign optimisation. Their attention to detail and in depth knowledge of ad technology and ad servers will allow them to excel at their job, drive practices around the use of data, and campaign management for the ad operations team. The ideal candidate would have experience within an ad server, ad-network and/or audience targeting environment, ideally with knowledge and use of Demand Side Platforms (DSP) and Real Time Bidding (RTB) environments.
Key Responsibilities

  • 1+ years experience in an ad ops function, preferably Agency/Network side, seasoned in campaign management and optimisation.
  • Previous solid experience in major 3rd party ad serving platforms, e.g. Atlas, DFA/DFP, Mediamind, Mediaplex etc. including troubleshooting setup, discrepancies, rich media implementation.
  • Experience in DSP/RTB enviroments such as Turn, Appnexus, Mediamath, RMX a benefit.
  • Ideally you will have a strong affinity towards technical skills like HTML, Javascript and Flash. SQL and programming experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent Excel skills, familiarity with the basics of data manipulation and digital advertising reporting.

Senior Data Engineer
You will be responsible for writing scalable algorithms to analyse and extract meaningful properties from data. You will have considerable experience with Hadoop and be intimately familiar with the Map/Reduce paradigm. You will lead and mentor a small team of data engineers.
Skills & Experience:
  • Most of what we do requires a strong grasp of CS fundamentals. If you understand the big-O notation, are familiar with standard data structures and algorithms, then we are interested in you.
  • 8+ years of experience in a relevant industry.
  • Experience with storing or processing large datasets is a plus.
  • You should have no trouble plugging your module in, or even learning a new language.
  • Some of the technologies we use are - AWS, Map/Reduce, Pig, NoSQL(MongoDB, Redis), Twisted and *nix.
  • An understanding of ad servers and/or ad exchanges would be of benefit.

Senior Data Scientist
You will be responsible for writing scalable algorithms to analyse and extract meaningful properties from data. You will have a programming background that enables you to go through our logfiles to test hypothesis and extract insights. You will be familiar with a set of data modelling or graphing tools to model the results of your experiments. You will lead and mentor a small team of data scientists.
Skills & Experience:
  • Most of what we do requires a strong grasp of CS fundamentals. If you understand the big-O notation, are familiar with standard data structures and algorithms, then we are interested in you.
  • Familiarity with basic Graph theory is essential. Practical knowledge and implementation are a bonus.
  • A PhD in Graph Theory, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or a relevant discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in a relevant industry, 3+ years for people with a PhD.
  • Experience with storing or processing large datasets is a plus.
  • Some of the technologies we use are - AWS, Map/Reduce, Pig, NoSQL(MongoDB, Redis), Twisted and *nix.

Data Analyst
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for parsing through large structured datasets and extracting information and insights for both internal stakeholders and for non-technical staff and external parties. Apply data mining techniques to user/ad interaction data. Contribute to the enhancement of existing predictive ad targeting models through methods like latent class analysis. Evaluating the effectiveness of ad targeting algorithms. Building marketing insights through analysis of large multi-dimensional datasets.
Skills & Experience:
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques.
  • Proficient programming skills, with the ability to pull data from internal databases/systems.
  • Knowledge of social network analysis.
  • Familiarity with various computation packages.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas and points of view.
  • Previous experience with Map-Reduce frameworks a plus.
  • Previous ad industry experience a plus.

System Admin
You will be responsible for monitoring, commissioning and upgrading our servers. You will ensure that we have the server capacity when we need it. You will be familiar with setting up and managing AWS (Amazon's Elastic Computing). You will be comfortable in at least one scripting language apart from Bash. You will be familiar with a setting up, monitoring and scaling a variety of systems - MongoDB clusters, Redis clusters, Neo4j, MySQL.
Skills & Experience:
  • Familiarity (or a keen desire to learn) with AWS, Hadoop, MongoDB, Redis, Nginx, Puppet.
  • Strong analytical mind. Ability to figure out where and what the bottlenecks are. Always asking 'Why?' and 'Can this be done any faster?'
  • Experience with storing or processing large datasets is a plus.
